15 Months

Where has the time gone? I can't believe my lil' Addie June is well into toddlerhood now! The past 3 months have been full of change and growth for her. She is a very clever, funny little girl. Here are some of her latest and greatest....
  • She is 23 lbs (50%), 31 inches (65%), and her head is 47.5 cm (85%). The doctor showed me her growth curve chart and she told me that while Adelle was a big baby, as breastfed babies often are,  their genetics kick in around age one and they tend to level out to where they will stay on the growth chart.  So she will probably be about average height and weight. Which makes sense, so am I!
  • She has the cutest curly blond hair and beautiful hazel eyes (the color of her eyes matches our granite, lol! They are speckled with greens and browns and have a dark blue/gray ring around the outside).
  • She is still taking 2 naps a day, but I'm cutting the morning nap shorter and shorter and some days we can just skip it. She is down to an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. She sleeps from 7 pm to 6:30 am at night.
  • She is still a chow hound and loves pretty much everything we give her to eat, but her favorite is definitely fruit....oranges, grapes, blueberries, watermelon, really any fruit :) She loves to eat so much, that I often have to hide from her when I eat because otherwise she is all over us trying to eat our meals. She would eat all day if I let her. I talked to her doctor about this too and she said it's not really a concern at this point because her size and growth is fine, but to try offering her water instead sometimes.
  • She started walking at 14 months and, while she is perfectly capable of walking now, she tends to do this funny knee walk instead. Her doctor said her muscle tone and coordination are great, so she is probably just extra cautious because Lilah tends to knock her over quite a bit, so she sort of assumes it's safer to be lower to the ground. Her fine motor skills are really great and her doctor was impressed that she uses a fork and spoon to eat all on her own now.
  • She likes pointing out her body parts like her hair, nose, toes, eyes, and she is especially proud of her belly, which she will pick up her shirt and pat when asked where it is, haha!
  • She says all kinds of words, well over 20, which her doctor was very impressed with. And will repeat almost anything we say when prompted. But some of her consistent words that have meaning to her are: Momma, Dada, Lilah, Papa, Dog, Ball, Hi/hello, Cheese, Uh Oh, Baby, No, That, Bye bye, book. She also knows what a dog, cow, duck, horse, lion, sheep, pig, and kitty say. She also signs more, all done, baby, and hat.
  • She is such a little comedian and loves to get a laugh out of people. Exhibit A:

This was taken this morning. After she finished her breakfast, she decided that her plate would be a nice hat. She would put the plate on her head and say "Hat!" with a proud smile, and then look at me and say "No no no!"  Silly silly girl! Another thing she does, which I'm not a huge fan of this game, but she will hit herself in the head and then laugh when we tell her not to do that. She also "winks" at people, lol! I always wink at my kids and make a little click sound with my mouth. She thinks its funny, so she will squint at you and make the same clicking sound!
  • She has her 12 (ish) teeth - 8 incisors (four on top and 4 on bottom) and her upper molars are in and her lower molars are just poking through. I think Lilah was 2 by the time she got molars, so Adelle is teething MUCH earlier than her sister. At this rate, she may even surpass Lilah, who just got her canines this past winter and only 1 two year molar has poked through so far!
  • She still takes her paci and loves it more than ever. I tried to take it away last month and failed miserably. I hate hearing my sweet angel cry and struggle, when I know what will calm her so easily. She also loves her snugglie, white blanket, and plush puppy...she carries quite the entourage around after nap.
  • Our little Addie June has a BIG personality. She is strong minded and knows what she wants. But, more so, she is lovable, mischievous, and silly. She loves a good laugh! Her favorite things are laughing, baby dolls, books, animals, food, her snugglies and blanket, stuffed animals, giving kisses and "BIG HUGS", and Mommy and Daddy (especially Mommy these days....YES!!!).
